This Spring Chef stainless steel can opener feels very well made and much sturdier than cheaper ones I’ve used in the past. The heavy-duty design gives it a solid feel, and it doesn’t bend or slip while opening cans. The soft grip handles are comfortable and make it easy to hold onto, even when opening tougher cans. The turning mechanism is smooth and requires less effort than expected, which is a nice upgrade from basic manual openers. It cuts cleanly and consistently, and I haven’t had any issues with jagged edges or struggling to get it started. Admittedly, I've only had this Spring Chef steel can opener for a couple of days. But this thing does it's job, and does it really well. This can of mixed vegetables fell out of the bag and went down a flight of stairs. The side was smashed in, the top was bent down to a slanted angle, and one part of the lip was flat for about 2.5 inches. This can opener did its job like it was a no-brainer. I used just gentle pressure on the knob and it cut through this angled, flattened can lid like it was just another day at the office! I'm honestly fairly impressed. The blade is sharp enough, and the gearing system is good enough to make that job hassle free, stress free, and honestly, quite simple. The magnet in the turning handle is really nice. No more having to pry loose, sharp edged lids out of the can. The only thing I don't like is that it's a plastic turn handle. Almost every can opener I've owned, I've broken at the base of the handle. The plastic there either cracks or strips. I am hoping that this one, as easy as it turns and how well it cuts, will not meet that same fate. If this can opener ends up having a short life span, I'll edit my review to update. But overall, this in just the few days I've had it, has been a very worthwhile purchase!
